  • Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic - Let them be playable again.

I was running nug team for Dwarve event with two Epic Sigrun's and 3 Legendaries recently. I was surprised to see some wins in my battle history so I've decided to run this nug team on runes and it was great. On many occasions auras are more important than stats. I've managed to finish in top 200 but I could go for top 50 with that team probably. Sigrun's usually could not get through round 1 but that was irrelevant because her 50% power boost to my Legendaries was making me almost unstoppable. Other day I was using some rares or epic for their slow or stun immunity an effect was similar - good fun.

However there is not many Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic with good auras and gap is just too big with very low stats. I don't think there is need to boost their stats as 1k or 2k will not help much here and we don't want them to be better than Legendaries. Adding or rising auras could help them a lot and they would be very useful for new players and good fun for advanced too. New players with limited number of Legendaries could use them to power up stronger heroes. Advanced players could have a lot of fun with clever synergies where is all about teamwork and boosting one or two other toons to do the hard work.

Maybe some boost against specific group could help too? 25% power to all against white faction? 25% power to all against front row? List can be endless.

Elfie Sera is also some good quick solution and it will be nice to have something like this for each rarity. It mainly help when there is a specific rarity event but CG need to create only one (Legendary) hero to help whole group so I see here a massive potential and hope for more similar toons.

I also like Goats as a group. Each rarity have very interesting auras to offer so very often we decide to choose auras before stats. It will be nice to see similar concept in other groups so goats are no longer OP option for not Legendaries.

    What do you guys think?

Auras can only go so far, their base stats make them useless outside of providing an aura meaning you are often fighting 4v5 or 3v5 with anything other then legendary heroes. Even if a rare gave 50% power to white faction would it ever really be better then using a legendary that gives 35% like Sandal? The faction bonus also increases when you use higher rarities so by trading out 2 legendary's for 2 rares you lose 4% damage right there, and instead of having something that has some use outside the aura you get something thats going to do no damage, die in one hit and possibly charge up an enemy hero (or an ally) in doing so all for an aura thats easily replaceable by a legend.

With the sheer number of legends out there, there's a better tool for almost any job then an epic or lower now. You could find super specific niche things to give rares or something an aura to but would it really be better then something with far superior stats and abilities that can provide a lesser more generic aura instead? We are far past the point of anything other then legends (and some very select epics) being usable in a competitive sense at all.

Even goats, which have the best synergy across all rarities are fairly useless beyond legends. Sure you could toss in an uncommon or something for the immunity (or just use a LC to cover that as there are plenty of LC's with resist auras now), but really other then then the legendarys none will do anything during the battle and would do little for your team that a swift runner or something couldn't do better.

The only way to make anything other then legends used is to run Red Jenny or Go for Gold type events more often but even then only a couple of each rarity ever get used

i really dont think we should even try to make lower rarity toons relevant among legendaries in regular play. even if it were possible we already have waaaaay too many legs to keep them all useful, and every lower rarity toon wed uplift to have a spot in there would mean sending even more legendaries to the bench. thats just not a desirable scenario

specialized events ala peasant revolt, GfG, epic blitz, etc.. is where they belong. the thing is that we need to have these events alot more frequently than we do. ive suggested about a year ago that id like to see one in six PvPs (aka one every 2 weeks) be either of these lower rarity events.

Especially the epic blitz. Cmiiw but I don't think we've had one since late 2015.

Epic blitz was the most fun event to date, there is far more variety in that then almost any other event.

Another way that would help make lower rarities useful without affecting any legendaries would be make a brand new nexus and have it boost them, but only boost one rarity each time it comes around.

You are correct here but not everyone have full hand of legendaries, not all legendaries give boost to your team, not all legendaries are tier IV, not all tier IV are forted. In current Creatures event I have to use two legendaries tier I and most time they die in round 1. If I could use some more powerful auras from epic or rares I would use them. I have 3 strong legendaries tier IV so if I could power them up this event could be easier for me.

This is not about making rares better than legendaries. When I tier up and fort my legs I will have no need to use lower rarity for other purpose than fun. As you said Sandal tier IV is likely to be better option than any epic or lower. It is about making low rarities useful in some specific situations when your legendary team is still work in progress. It will benefit mainly low level players but it could be some fun for advanced players who are bored of 4xAC with DM team in slot D. They could try trick others with weak looking teams with great synergies to boost up some Necromancer Dorian or any other powerful character.

I can remember that I could not master main quest only because I had no legendaries. There is a similar situation with Nexus as I could potentially try higher level of difficulty if my epic or rares could be more useful. Losing 4% damage when I can gain 50% or more and some auras is irrelevant.

Legends are far easier to get now then they ever have been before meaning the length of time rares and epics need to be used is shorter then ever and only going down. To invest time and resources in revamping lower rarities that are only becoming less and less useful is not the best way to allocate those resources. If CG had unlimited time and resources then sure have at it, but as it is they need to prioritize their efforts and focusing on heroes that most people will only use for a couple weeks instead of heroes that people would use for months is not the best way. I agree things would be WAY more fun if you could use epics and rares, and I've pushed for events that promote that but leave that to events. Its far easier to make an event that boosts lower rarities to be useful then it is to actually revamp them, and that to me seems the best use of resources.

Not all legends need to be T4 and fully forted to be useful, Sandal at T1 rare forted can out class all rares and most epics because of the skills he has. Its not all about the raw stats when it comes to legends, its their abilities to stun/slow/drain provide resists, auras, etc... thats all independent of tier level or fort level.

The story maps have been changed as well to progress better, I remember when I was doing them there was a hard wall where a full legend team couldn't get past it (at least not full random legends). Its since been changed to be easier to clear, and from what I've heard people can clear it now much easier.

The 4% damage loss is in addition to everything else legends bring. Would you trade a legend that brings resists, stuns, better stats and a 25% aura for a rare that has nothing but a 50% aura? Then factor in its actually only 46% aura after the faction loss? Its an extra penalty for using a lower rarity, not the be all end all reason to not use rares but its something to not ignore when compairing the rarities

As we have a limited quantity of units in our inventory it's even now hard to keep some maybe usefull non-legendary heroes.
But maybe I'm too much a hunter and gatherer.

On that note, I do think there are epics that should've been legends. How about super old epics like Corypheus or Xebenkeck? We all know cory got his own legend after DAI. Fenris & Sten are also notable characters who got their legendary release, so that's that. But Xebenkeck is one of the forbidden ones after all, which is supposed to be very ancient & powerful. Still he ended up being an epic fort food. Not sure what to do with that from a developer standpoint, but I find it a bit of a waste.

With Branka elevated to Paragon Branka, we're seeing more possibilities of units being moved to their well deserved position. I take this as more things that we can look forward in the future. More content means more life for HoDA afterall!

The original Arishok springs to mind as well. I maintain he has no business being "just" an epic.

                          Posting Suggestions
In the attempt to create a compromise where everyone is happy, the following suggestions are also recommended:

                          1. Be civil and courteous. This forum is visited by people from all over the world, of different ages, genders, religions, and backgrounds, and are each entitled to their own opinion.
Also, see Flaming, Right to Privacy, and Hatred.

                          2. Make sure that your message topics fit the topic description of the forum in which you are posting. This is for your own benefit - for example, a question regarding a bug or problem should be posted in the Feedback section.

                          3. Use the search function before posting, particularly if the question is problem oriented. Most technical questions have been answered before, and solutions are freely available.

                          4. Make sure that you have followed #3 before posting

                          5. Read the sticky threads at the top of each forum - they are there for a reason, and generally contain information relevant to the forum.

                          6. Don't quote the entire message that you're responding to, only the pertinent passage. This makes it easier to read for other users.

                          7. If you find it easier to express yourself en français, auf Deutsch, en español, in Nederlands, in Italiano, or any other language, post in the International Discussion forum. Hopefully someone who speaks the same language as you will be able to assist you. All posts in other sections (non-International) of the forums must be in English, so please make use of Google Translate if you need assistance with translation.
