So I only ever gave PG a shot once. I climbed to some 2k trophies and went to sleep, only to wake up to 1200 trophies and far out of even top 1000. But now I have a better roster and duration runes, so I have 1 question: is PG still asleep for a week and 2 hours of frenzy at 4am GMT on a Sunday? I remember something about changes being implemented that trophy rewards would gradually wind down throughout the week, making PG an actual week-long affair. Right now I'm #1 with some ~2150 trophies, but if I'm gonna plummet 700 points in two hours Saturday night, then I don't think I want to bother.

It continues being like in the past, you will end in a good place if you play the last day 2-3 hours before the ending time, it doesn't matter the position that you have been mantaining during the week, it only counts what you do the last hours.
The only different thing is that all teams have a counter with the last runes improvements (runes per slot and long duration runes) as all teams can be countered now, you can be attacked most frequently because don't exist a good defense and you should know all the possible counters to attack players even using runes.
With the long duration runes update all players are always using runes all the time and you will not lose your position so quick when you wake up to compete.
But you continue losing more trophies per defeat than you win per match.

For european Players it became much better, you can put in 8 hour runes, play to a good position and find yourself in a good position at PG ending time

Yeah, it is better now, you don't lose so many banners, even you could get some gems if you have a good squad in your PG defense slot while you are sleeping, but the last 2-3 hours continue being decisive, if you don't play the last hours, you will lose your position.
If you are European and you want to end top 25-500, you need to wake up and play, runes will not help you to keep your position so high.

As you can see it is possible to end in the Top 200 even if you are sleeping. All you need is a little bit of luck and 2 or 3 successful defences.

There are 2 ways of playing Proving Ground.
If you are staying in Europe and treasure your sleeping time, it is suggested that you try to get yourself to top 50 (about 2k+ trophies) with 8 hours to go. Then equipped with compatible 8 hours runes that may prevent opponent from attacking your team. Hopefully, by the time you wake up you could still end up within top 500.
If you are at the other side of the globe, you only require the last 1 hour to actively fight from a starting position of around 1000 (about 1.7k trophies) to reach top 50 (about 2.1k trophies). It is extremely important to win your fights in the last 5-10 minutes to finish in top 200. Having a strong team will help if you manage to defend successfully as you can gain trophies with each successful defense.
I don't find it useful to play in the other 167 hours leading up to the end of the Proving Ground unless you want to test your team setup against other meta teams.

Yes, that is what happens to me actually, when I sleep ;-). 4 Barts are (still) very helpful

Okay, thanks for all the advice. I have a meta demon team (3x Kitties, Envy, POC) and I have half of the KA meta (2x KAs, but no Fbanner or GDragon/Abyssal). I'll try my luck this week.

Thanks for the info Fenrir, maybe all depends on your luck, but if you want to end in a higher position it is better to compete and don't test your luck, my alarm clock broke last week and didn't wake me up to compete, it was the first time I didn't compete at PG and I saw what happens, I went from top 25 to top 500, I usually end top 100 and sometimes I have ended top 25 too, so I lost over 100 not competing and sleeping.

I think kittys and demons are a little outdated now after KA was revamped, I am not sure if you will end in a good position if you don't compete, maybe if you use a KA team your result will be better, but you need some FB, if not your team can be countered easily.

I agree, with a meta squad you could end top 500-750 if you are lucky, but all depends on your luck and if your team defenses well, but you could have bad luck too and end out of the gems.
Last hours continue being decisive at PG.

You must also recognize that they cannot respond immediately to such notices and that some time may pass before any warranted action is taken.

What happens if I break the rules?
At best, your post will be edited by one of the moderators and you will be issued a warning. If the offense is more serious your post will be deleted. Posting "why was my post edited/deleted?" etc. will only make matters worse, so please don't. If a moderator has not sent you a message stating why, please send the Sr Moderator a message asking for a reason.

Should you have already been issued warnings and continue to break the rules, you will be issued an infraction - your posting privileges will be disabled for three days, but you will still be able to view the forums as a guest.

For persistent and deliberate rule-breakers your account will be "Banned". That means you are no longer welcome on these forums and/or games and your account will no longer function in them. If you re-register, your new account will be banned as well.

                          Posting Suggestions
In the attempt to create a compromise where everyone is happy, the following suggestions are also recommended:

                          1. Be civil and courteous. This forum is visited by people from all over the world, of different ages, genders, religions, and backgrounds, and are each entitled to their own opinion.
Also, see Flaming, Right to Privacy, and Hatred.

                          2. Make sure that your message topics fit the topic description of the forum in which you are posting. This is for your own benefit - for example, a question regarding a bug or problem should be posted in the Feedback section.

                          3. Use the search function before posting, particularly if the question is problem oriented. Most technical questions have been answered before, and solutions are freely available.

                          4. Make sure that you have followed #3 before posting

                          5. Read the sticky threads at the top of each forum - they are there for a reason, and generally contain information relevant to the forum.

                          6. Don't quote the entire message that you're responding to, only the pertinent passage. This makes it easier to read for other users.

                          7. If you find it easier to express yourself en français, auf Deutsch, en español, in Nederlands, in Italiano, or any other language, post in the International Discussion forum. Hopefully someone who speaks the same language as you will be able to assist you. All posts in other sections (non-International) of the forums must be in English, so please make use of Google Translate if you need assistance with translation. Posting in English will allow the widest range of people to assist you.
