  • Need explanation on on-hit power drain effect

    Guys, I need help on how the on-hit power drain works.
    ​For example, if my RJS attacks a MD of a squad of MD+ND, how much power (in %) will be drained after the 5 hits attack?

    It will drain 10% per hit for md and extra 3% per hit for ND.Total would be 85% drain,she'd be hitting with a pillow by the 5th attack!

      No rjs hits Will only drain like any other hits, so only one time, even she hits MD or ND

        Really My bad I thought it was every hit.To my above post I meant 65% not 85% sorry it was 6;30 am.I will have to test it but I thought every hit from rjs will set off drain since she has no stealth

            Rjs 5x hits count as one hit and its same for any other multiple hitters

              That's my understanding as well, with multi-hitters there is a drain per hit but you only get the animation and drain after all the hits are finished. When RJS (or any multi-hitter) hits MD the team is certainly drained by a lot more than 10%

              I also think it is more likely to be multiplicative like power reduction not additive like damage reduction, i.e. (0.9 * 0.9 * 0.9 * 0.9 * 0.9) = 0.59 or 41% drain instead of (0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1) = 0.5 or 50% drain.

                    I've been using my 100% DR Immune BD in the current PVP against some Outlaw teams and he gains power every time he gets hit.

                    If there is an RJS in the team he gains too much power and I have the stack overflow problem and can lose because of negative damage.

                    If there is no RJS, I never get the problem and will win, as long as BD doesn't get cursed/drained lol.

                    So he must be gaining power for every RJS hit, I can't think of any other explanation.

                    The same would apply to MD/ND on hit draining.

                    Lyeshal , can you confirm if RJS hits count as 1 or 5 for the on hit effects. I would assume other multi hitters would be the same.

                      While waiting for Lyeshal's confirmation, if Dildoith and Scultura are correct that the drain is calculated by total number of hits, then in the case of RJS hitting MD of an MD+ND squad, the total drain would be:
                      MD drains 10% x 5 hits + ND drains 3% x 5 hits = 65%
                      MD + ND drain: 0.9x0.9x0.9x0.9x0.9x0.97x0.97x0.97x0.97x0.97=50%
                      an attack by one ally will result in more than 50% power drain for the whole team, which is quite devastating...

                      So same logic applies to on-hit power gainer like BD, SC, etc...?
                      If yes, then all allies will gain 125% power when an enemy RJS hit an ally SC (easily get overflow when combined with GOTS's power gain effect?)

                      Another question: how much % power will be drained if an all-attacker attacks a full enemy squad with ND (exclude MD to make the calculation easier)? 3% x 5 enemy units = 15% since all five enemies were hit or only 3% since it's only counted as one hit even though it's an AOE attack?

                          The ND Drain is definitely per Ally hit so 5 hits against a full team. I use ND with MD, Sof, Evangeline & Gurn and if they get hit by a quick/normal round AoE first it's basically game over.

                          Even a 4x Ser Stroud team with an event boost got drained each time a Ser Stroud hit

                            there is another thing i noticed and seems quite strange to me.
                            my team has ND+MD
                            enemy team with varric tethras, rjs, bianca

                            varric attack first, hit 40k, kills ND IN BACK row
                            sera attack second, she hit FOR 10 DMG my first row MD
                            bianca attack third, hit hivernal for 50k

                            why if enemy get drained this doesn't happens to enemy with stealth??
                            i understand that they doesn't trick drain effect when they attack.
                            but they should get drain when teammates attack (and this never happens, checked with zevran and other toons)

                              As always, I can be wrong about some of this more granular stuff since knowing for sure would involve getting an engineer to dig into the code, but I'll try to answer to the best of my knowledge.

                              On-hit effects should trigger with each individual hit, but you only see the combined effect appear at the end of the hero's turn. So multi-attackers are pretty risky, but have obvious upsides. Being multi-attackers they also tend to have smaller power stats, so any draining they're doing is smaller than a strong single-attacker (assuming the same drain % of course).

                              Power drain is based on the current power stat, so if a hero has already been drained, then further drains of the same % technically drain for less since it's based on a now lower power stat. However, keep in mind that normal power drains (as part of an attack ability) drain based on the power stat of the hero doing the draining (the hero attacking), so if they're draining multiple times in a row each drain is still based on their OWN power stat and thus does not get successively lower. But since power drains are based on the power stat of the attacker, that means that on-hit power drains like MD's are based on the power stat of the enemies since they're the attackers in that scenario (it's based individually on whoever he's draining), not based on MD's power like it would be if it were part of his ability.

                              Customer Support Inquiries
                              All inquiries regarding Customer Support should be routed through the online web portal for support. The Community Manager and Moderators are unable to assist with inquiries regarding support tickets.                               What happens if I break the rules?
                              At best, your post will be edited by one of the moderators and you will be issued a warning. If the offense is more serious your post will be deleted.
