Where has everyone traveled and lived? Let's share pictures on this thread Don't worry, I won't ask you to take selfies this time

Show me the beautiful places you've seen.

I'll start with Iceland. We went in December, so only a few hours of sunlight. What a cool place.

Saw a reindeer at the Reykjavik Zoo <3

The Sun Voyager was something I had to see. Amazingly, I ran into someone who was a regular at the Starbucks I was a barista at in Seattle. I recognized him. Couldn't remember his name but I did remember his drink, lol. Man, what are the odds??

This was 10am. Crazy. I took this at the top of Hallgrimskirkja C
    hurch, it was freezing.

We got lucky with the Northern Lights.. They weren't visible the day before or after.

Amazing photos! Some of them look more like drawings than real life places.

Not much of a photographer myself, but my favorite place from my travels was Tibet. One of the most authentic and interesting places I've been to.

So. I will share some fotos with you all to, then.

My most distant travels until now where to the US. One time East, and one West coast. Have no fotos from then on my pc though.

I also were in Namibia and in Botswana. But i got no photos from there either that i cout show you.

My latest large distant vacation was in early 2015 to New Zealand and Australia. You cant go farther from my home without swimming in the open sea....

And it was by far my most favourite vacation. And not only because i am a fand of the LotR Films.
So. Visiting Hobbiton was a must do for me.

        Bag End

Of course we have seen many other things. I have a folder with more than 3000 pictures.....
        Here some special ones

This one was in the rain forest in the North

This was on one of many hikes. On the southisland near Wanaka

        Meet Rohan

And a crapy handyphoto of the Milford Sound.

        And in Australia from

......allong the Great Ocean Road , here you can see the not 12 anymore Apostles.....
Adelaide where we have been to Kangaroo Island.

        I like special rocks
Dont remember the name of this place.

My personal highlight on the island was that we have seen a wild monitor. It was sunbathing on the road. Good thing our driver was alert for such things.

        So. Here you go.
Was a pain to decide wich one i schould share

GameOfJones Fixed the pictures if you where not able to see them before, like some others.

You've been to Tibet? Wow, I am so jealous. What was that like? Did you see Lhasa Apso's everywhere like that scene from Seven Years in Tibet? One of my dogs in a Lhasa, so that scene has a special place in my heart. Did you see temples?

Actually dogs there were mostly really mangy and miserable It's a hard land but I got to spend a lot of time with the Tibetan nomads and they were the most amazing and hospitable people I met. I have a lot to say about the condition there with China too, but lets keep politics out of this.

I was there some 20 years ago, hitched from Lhasa to the western parts with truck drivers. Managed to visit Mt. Kailash on the holy day of Saga Dawa when thousands of pilgrims do the 52Km circuit around it and did it myself twice (103 times is supposed to give automatic enlightenment ). Actually got to do the second circuit in one loooong day with the grandson of Tensin sherpa, the guy who was really the first person to climb Mt. Everest. God those were some good times, thanks for giving me a chance to reminisce about them

Here's a pic of Mt. Kailash courtesy of google:

                  Okay that makes me sad

                  • #10
                    Tibet is sad.

It's also majestic, awe inspiring, deep and extremely interesting. I tend to prefer these places over those that are "just" beautiful. The place to see Tibetans as they could have been is in Dharamsalla India, where the exiled Tibetan government is.

The rocks are on Kangaroo Island, and are named Remarkable Rocks.

I've only had the opportunity to travel outside of North America once--in the summer of 2015, my fiancee and I visited Denmark for her brother's wedding. We spent a lot of time with family there, so we didn't get to do a lot of the touristy stuff (just another reason to go back, I suppose!) but we got to see some pretty nice places

Shopping district in Skive. I love how colorful the houses are--everything manages to stay pretty cheery (even if it is rainy )

                        The palace gardens in Copenhagen.

..and Rosenborg Castle from the street (so rainy)

We didn't get to tour Rosenborg, but we later visited Spøttrup Borg, which is a well preserved medieval castle. It was a lot of fun! Though there was, of course, a good amount of rain :P

Wind energy is huge in Denmark--I heard that the country has produced so much that they've been able to sell the excess to Germany and other countries. The windmills really were a beautiful site to behold--this photo does it no justice.

This was the church the wedding took place in, and it ended up being such a perfectly beautiful day

And this was an island lighthouse between Jutland and Zealand. With sheep!

On the trip home, we got to travel over Greenland, which was incredible to see:

So yeah, definitely planning on going back someday, hopefully for longer than a week, and hopefully with more fluency in Danish. Lots of stuff I didn't get to see (Tivoli Gardens, LegoLand, Kronborg, etc.), but I will leave you with this: of all the culture shocks, the hardest to wrap my mind around was the Danish hotdog, which instead of a bun uses a tube of bread:

I'll try to dig up some photos of my trip to England last winter. As an American, there are few things stranger than seeing a cemetery in Oxford with headstones over graves dug centuries before Europeans began colonizing your home continent or looking at buildings built in the 1200s with McDonald's in the lower floors. It's just crazy.

Wow, everyone's quite the adventurer here. I have yet to travel outside of my country, would really love to go on a vacation soon.

However, what I do have are photos from our hiking and beach getaways. I might drop some later!

What happens if I break the rules?
At best, your post will be edited by one of the moderators and you will be issued a warning. If the offense is more serious your post will be deleted. Posting "why was my post edited/deleted?" etc. will only make matters worse, so please don't. If a moderator has not sent you a message stating why, please send the Sr Moderator a message asking for a reason.

Should you have already been issued warnings and continue to break the rules, you will be issued an infraction - your posting privileges will be disabled for three days, but you will still be able to view the forums as a guest.

For persistent and deliberate rule-breakers your account will be "Banned". That means you are no longer welcome on these forums and/or games and your account will no longer function in them. If you re-register, your new account will be banned as well.

                              Posting Suggestions
In the attempt to create a compromise where everyone is happy, the following suggestions are also recommended:

                              1. Be civil and courteous. This forum is visited by people from all over the world, of different ages, genders, religions, and backgrounds, and are each entitled to their own opinion.
Also, see Flaming, Right to Privacy, and Hatred.

                              2. Make sure that your message topics fit the topic description of the forum in which you are posting. This is for your own benefit - for example, a question regarding a bug or problem should be posted in the Feedback section.

                              3. Use the search function before posting, particularly if the question is problem oriented. Most technical questions have been answered before, and solutions are freely available.

                              4. Make sure that you have followed #3 before posting

                              5. Read the sticky threads at the top of each forum - they are there for a reason, and generally contain information relevant to the forum.

                              6. Don't quote the entire message that you're responding to, only the pertinent passage. This makes it easier to read for other users.

                              7. If you find it easier to express yourself en français, auf Deutsch, en español, in Nederlands, in Italiano, or any other language, post in the International Discussion forum. Hopefully someone who speaks the same language as you will be able to assist you. All posts in other sections (non-International) of the forums must be in English, so please make use of Google Translate if you need assistance with translation. Posting in English will allow the widest range of people to assist you.
