  • Energy Refill Overflow

For Example: I have 220 max energy and used 180 energy in Nexus, so i still have 40 energy remaining (40/220). If I refill with 40/220 energy, I will have 260/220 energy.

1 refill will always be equivalent to your max energy, then stack your remaining energy (before refilling) to it causing Overflow. Overflow can only happen during refill, nats will only fill your max energy.

This is common in energy based mobile games. Hopefully CG can implement in this beautiful game too. Tnx

Another Recommendation: You can use energy as reward in ladder rewards in pvp instead of coins or runes, like 15-20 energy replacing some runes or coins. This will cause overflow too if it happens.

Nice idea, to add an aspect to it, you would also need to include a logic to avoid stacking tons of energy.
Something like: if you already got an energy overflow, then you are not able to refill.
    Never said anything about compensation.

This is certainly something we've had in consideration. There's a few other things associated with why the overflow would be required that we're hammering out details for, but it's something we'd like to do. As always, based on resource availability and priorities.

I think the current limitation we're looking at would be to allow overflow from leveling limitlessly (mostly an issue in the early levels when you're able to go fairly quickly through), but if you're already at or over "max" energy based on your level, you won't be able to refill.

So, for example, if you're level 200, you'd have 211 energy max. If you have 210 energy currently, you'd be able to buy a refill to get you to 421 energy, but would not be able to purchase a refill again until you've used down to 210 again. If, however, you use energy down to, say 300, and then level, you would then be granted the full, new 212 energy on top to have a total of 512 energy available.

We would also apply a similar overflow mechanism for stamina. The main hope here isn't necessarily for the refill purchases, but so that you don't lose out on the energy/stamina refill we grant when you level. Plus, this would allow our gem purchase bonus for stamina to provide the 8 stamina regardless of whether your energy is full, partially used, or empty.

I'm not sure why you would need to implement that type of constraint though. Stacking energy doesn't give you any type of advantage in PVP.

Mostly display constraints. If we allowed people to go limitless, at some point someone's gonna go crazy (just because they can) and it'll cause display issues. We're pretty confident we'd be able to fit 4 digits on the overflow display (so up to 9999) given the space available. So you'd be able to see something like "9999/260" for example.

I think this would be nice considering possible lost energy when leveling up. I can attest that poor calculation has ended up with me missing out on a Ludicrous run or two.

So if I am level 233 will I get some compensation for all the lost energy I missed out on from previous level up refills?.....jk.... :-)
              I really like this idea.

Well, maybe because of refill discounts? Wouldn't you go refilling like crazy as soon as refill discounts hit Thedas?

Maybe, but since you'd be over the limit you wouldn't be getting any more natural energy so I'm not sure where the return would even out. I hadn't thought about that though so it's a good point.

Ahhh, right. That's another good point, natural refills. Thank you. Sooo many things to consider here. Anyway, I read from Lyeshal's response that it's been already thought through quite well.
What also bugged me was the question, how could one be able to refill something that is full and overflowing? Maybe the energy&stamina you get from levelling should not be called refill but something like bonus?

Should you have already been issued warnings and continue to break the rules, you will be issued an infraction - your posting privileges will be disabled for three days, but you will still be able to view the forums as a guest.

In the attempt to create a compromise where everyone is happy, the following suggestions are also recommended:

                        1. Be civil and courteous. This forum is visited by people from all over the world, of different ages, genders, religions, and backgrounds, and are each entitled to their own opinion.
Also, see Flaming, Right to Privacy, and Hatred.

                        2. Make sure that your message topics fit the topic description of the forum in which you are posting. This is for your own benefit - for example, a question regarding a bug or problem should be posted in the Feedback section.

                        3. Use the search function before posting, particularly if the question is problem oriented. Most technical questions have been answered before, and solutions are freely available.

                        4. Make sure that you have followed #3 before posting

                        5. Read the sticky threads at the top of each forum - they are there for a reason, and generally contain information relevant to the forum.

                        6. Don't quote the entire message that you're responding to, only the pertinent passage. This makes it easier to read for other users.

                        7. If you find it easier to express yourself en français, auf Deutsch, en español, in Nederlands, in Italiano, or any other language, post in the International Discussion forum. Hopefully someone who speaks the same language as you will be able to assist you. All posts in other sections (non-International) of the forums must be in English, so please make use of Google Translate if you need assistance with translation. Posting in English will allow the widest range of people to assist you.
