  • remove 8 hour rune packs from GWs

    Afternoon,

i'd like to propose a change to the 8 hour runes. my proposal is to omit the use of 8 hour runes from the number one squad slot.

the last couple GW's have been a real grind, Players who normally get 14k aren't even passing 11k and the time commitment has gone up tremendously, all and all what was fun is definately more drawn out and not as fun.

this has led to a lot of members in our guild thinking about looking for a new game.

talking with other guilds we have witnessed the same sentiment.

generally ppl like 8 hour runes when it comes to PG as it allows European time zones to compete and at least get a few gems, it is also a convenient way to get rid of unwanted runes at the mythic level.

the proposed removal of the 8 hour rune from the first slot would allow the best of both worlds.

please make your own comments below as a show of support or suggestions.

    thanks

They can hunker down the game.In this instance it might be worse for the U.S. east coast gamers(first time for everything).I noticed during my awake hours every squad had runes on all day but one morning I awoke at 4:00 am and found lots of squads without runes.Im speaking in the top 100 range,I can’t speak for other pockets of gameplay.
I wouldn’t mind going back to 1 hour runes for gw!

I don't like 8 hours runes for pvp and GW, they can ruin the event and competition, doing more difficult to do banners or competing for a toon.
I only would keep them at PG, if you are European, you can mantain your position better when you are sleeping with the 8 hour runes and you don't need to do so many refills when you wake up to compete the last hours, with 1 hour runes, I had to do 3 or 4 refills when I woke up because I was destroyed by American and other players who had the right ending time zone.

we are talking about the position one squad. not the position 2 GW squad. so that would work for you no?

I think there are merits to this discussion as people play games for enjoyment.

I have also needed to Next a lot more in the last two guild wars to find squads without runes. That has taken up more of my time and I ended with lower banner levels than I aimed for. Not a good feeling for a game I love.

I would voice support to disable 8 hour runes for GW and PvP. Setting max 1 hour runes for GW and PvP is reasonable, in my opinion.

I definitely would agree! GW's become a "job" and stopped being fun and not being able to grind in the end phase of the GW made no one being able to get the top prize ^^

Turning off the 8h runes for GW and leaving them on for PG's would make sense.

There's been some discussion regarding this over in the PVP Event thread for the Guild War. I highly suggest you head over there and read it.

but then i would have to wake up every hour during GW to equip runes!

i get the frustration, but i also appreciate the challenge. Removing long duration runes for GW just removes strategy. If people want to smash for easy wins...i find that boring. Runes vs no rues is typically a no brainer when it comes to strategy.

Maybe the banner expectations are what should change as the grinds have been slower.

This was suggested before when the update rolled out or there were other suggestions. What happened on the discussions? The 8-hour rune is killing the pvp and gw on my personal opinion. It really impacted a lot the banners output for last 2 gw. In top 50, you will see almost all players runed up 24/7 and you have to pick a good match. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Grinding was hard and nexting and time consumed in a battle became frustation and disappointment if you cant find a good match.

Easy solution: max 5 "next", and let's see what you really can do!

Much harder? Certainly! But that can also be fixed: reward at 10K the current 15K's reward.

That will reward good strategies and good teams over just grinding more time...

that is an option hellboy but then a lot relies on rng and thats no strategy in itself. part of the challenge of GW's is picking teams you can beat. i still saw alot of teams runed up at the top while playing in the top 100 but i also saw a lot of unruned at times. the battles still there with 1 hour runes its just not a chore.

Generally i saw all runes in the last hours of a normal GW before the 8 hour runes, and there is a challenge in that. but it also rewarded the long grinders as well as the ones with the top teams, now it just rewards the top teams.

personally i find it boring when i am spending more time clicking next than i am battling and climbing.

finding good counters helps to keep from clicking next. there were teams during the first day of war that i had a hard time beating anything more than RNG luck. 2x KA and 2x Thom with 2x health runes.

being in a good guild that talks strategy helps. I got a nice counter for that squad from a guildmate and then bam. 1-2 round wins, very very consistent. used it the rest of the GW.

Top players play over 20 hours for 2 day gw events, this hasnt changed with 8 hour runes, but farming over 10 hours and going to bed doesnt nullify the hard earned gap you put with your opponents now.

Freeloading the prime time farmers with weak teams or much less effort after they sleep shouldnt be the way as it was. Go form a nug farm team with your friends with pace or offer a logical alternative.

I can appreciate the strategic aspect of the game. Most of the time during GW I am fighting whoever is in top 1-5 rank for maximum banners.

The issue is how this is effecting the majority of players. I have also had many players tell me that they are losing interest in the games. Also seen players leaving because of this. At one time they felt a level of accomplishment, and now only disappointment. The game needs to be fun for EVERYONE.

Also how is this effecting the amount of gems spent in the game?

With that all said, I am all for removing 8 hour runes from slot 1. I feel as the long duration of the runes is a negative for the game.

                              1. Be civil and courteous. This forum is visited by people from all over the world, of different ages, genders, religions, and backgrounds, and are each entitled to their own opinion.

                              2. Make sure that your message topics fit the topic description of the forum in which you are posting. This is for your own benefit - for example, a question regarding a bug or problem should be posted in the Feedback section.

                              3. Use the search function before posting, particularly if the question is problem oriented. Most technical questions have been answered before, and solutions are freely available.

                              4. Make sure that you have followed #3 before posting

                              5. Read the sticky threads at the top of each forum - they are there for a reason, and generally contain information relevant to the forum.

                              6. Don't quote the entire message that you're responding to, only the pertinent passage. This makes it easier to read for other users.

                              7. If you find it easier to express yourself en français, auf Deutsch, en español, in Nederlands, in Italiano, or any other language, post in the International Discussion forum.
