  • New LC Targeting Weight - too much?

    While I understand that LCs are getting lots of health and are formidable, is the new target weight too much?

    I have been noticing that targeting gear and taunt toons are not functioning the way they used to.

    I can put 2x Red Lyrium Nug (much more likely to be attacked) in the front row, and 75% of the time or so, Greater Mistral gets targeted. (no one was using the Mythic LC targeting hammer)

    Also, Arms of the Champ goes after quick units much less, and more to the LC.

    Skywatchers cleaver doesn't do much for targeting most powerful, but I still attack a power drained LC while another toon has sky high power.

    Anyone else have similar findings?

    Would increasing the weight of gear/taunt help make them function more reliably again?

    I agree with this. While testing Shianni yesterday she was targeting a taunt LC >90% (Behemoth) despite her aura that is to avoid LCs and the fact she was equipped with cookies to attack power gainers (which Behemoth is not).

      I brought this up when it was first implemented as my Hakkonite Archer was hitting LCs a vast majority of the time. I haven't paid enough attention since then to tell if it's really a problem though.

          I agree shianni no longer has LC fear and lcs even if they aren’t a taunter take priority over taunters.Changed the dynamics of a few of my countering teams.

            Personally I like it, broken Kitties attacking the LC more now instead of the back row. The big problem here are the Taunters, they need more targeting weight, they should at least act as the first defense against heroes with "Brave/Wounded/Quick&Slow Targeting (adding 2000-5000 to target)".

            Your opponent's hero with Wounded Targeting will add a weight of 2000 to your 1 back row hero (2000+1=2001) and your 1 front hero has taunt with multiplier of 2 (200x2=400 meh), and other heroes with no additional targeting ablities, then these will be the result:

            LC 25.7%
            Front Row Hero 5.7%
            Front Row Hero with Taunt 11.4%
            Back Row Hero 0.02%
            Back Row Hero targeted by Wounding targeting 57%

            That 57% will turn up to 77% if I use the maximum targeting added weight of 5000 instead of 2000. Taunts are super useless right now, they really need more weight to be real a taunters.

              We did say we'd be monitoring the LC weighting, so thank you all for checking in on this. We're continuing to evaluate, but so far it seems like the LCs are actually behaving in the way we intended when compared to other targeting weights. Keep in mind these targeting weights are intended to be "more likely to attack" - not "guaranteed to attack". In gamesworn's example above, having that targeted hero with a greater-than-50% weight (and up to 77%) means that it's definitely still more likely to be attacked.

              As gamesworn mentions, the targeting auras add 2000 or 5000 weight (more likely to attack.. vs "much" more likely to attack...). The LC target weight is currently set at 900. A lot of LCs also have their own separate "taunt" or "heavy taunt" applied, although that should be specified on their card.

              If you're wondering where these numbers came from, there's a thread in the University of Orlais section that explains the targeting mechanic in great detail.

              I'll take a look at the actual "taunt" value, though - that may be what's out of balance at this point. Taunt is a multiplier of the base weighting. Looking at gettypoppy's notes, it seems we had intended to review this earlier and it may have just been waylaid.

                I like it too for that reason, but I don't want targeting gear or taunt to suffer just to get better LC defense for litters of Cats.

                Skywatchers cleaver is one of my favorite gears, but it seems to mostly only work after the LC is dead, and that LC is hitting for 12 while another toon is juiced up.

                Maybe i will put a Skywatchers CLeaver on a Battlemaster to increase the weight further and test vs some non-taunting LCs

                  Well I loved shianni a fear of lcs because she would ping pong around normal heroes and do real damage.She was an incredible counter to some meta teams but now she lost her main attribute.I guess one toon losing its usefulness isn’t a make or break for a change in mechanics but it is a pity.

                      It sounds like it could be an issue with taunt or maybe that fear weighting needs to be increased to help offset the big increase in LC agro.

                        I'll take a look at the Fears, too. They might not be defined as the exact opposits of the targeting mechanics/hatreds.

                              I understand the joy of added Kitty counters, but I don't want to overlook the taunt/gear/fear balancing simply because it helps for cats. There were good cat counters before the LC weight increase so I personally wouldn't let that factor in to what's happening at a more fundamental level.

                              Even though these are forums to allow free expression of ideas, there are other (real) people involved and one should respect their opinions and questions as ORIGINALLY POSTED IN THE TOPIC HEADINGS. Moderators are here to uphold and enforce the Terms of Service.                               Spamming

                              Topics/posts containing such will be deleted on sight. Forum poster will be permanently banned from the forums.


                              Warez
                              Providing or asking for information regarding the illegal downloading of "warez", "gamez" or any other software protected by copyright.


                              Future Events/Promotions
                              Any posts or threads revealing future events or promotions that were not disclosed by the Capital Games team will be deleted.


                              Cross-posting
                              Posting the same question in more than one forum is not allowed. Should this occur, then only the thread in the most relevant forum will be left open; all others will be locked/closed and subsequently deleted.


                              Cheating
                              The use of any exploits or known bugs or editing of files in order to gain an unfair advantage while playing, will result in a permanent game and forum ban.

                              Accusing another player of cheating will result in your post/thread being deleted and a message sent to you, stating to refrain from further accusations. If continued accusations occur, a forum ban will result. If you believe a player to be cheating, send a PM to the Community Manager with as much detail as possible.

                              Please privately contact the Community Manager in order to submit an inquiry regarding this behavior.


                              Off-Topic Posting
                              Taking over a thread by posting excessively off-topic is not allowed. Off-Topic posts and any responses will be moved to their own, new thread if possible, or else deleted.


                              Political Posting
                              Because political beliefs, like religion, are a personal and sensitive topic, avoid posting about politics on the forums.


                              Customer Support Inquiries
                              All inquiries regarding Customer Support should be routed through the online web portal for support. The Community Manager and Moderators are unable to assist with inquiries regarding support tickets. Posting your ticket number and requesting assistance on the forums will result in the post being deleted. Sending a Private Message to the Community Manager or Moderators about CSR Inquiries is not to be tolerated, and will be ignored.

                              Additionally, all interactions with Customer Support are considered confidential, and all issues are handled on a case-by-case basis. As such, posts containing transcripts or results of your interactions with Customer Support will be edited or deleted.


                              Violation of these terms is grounds for removal from EA Capital Games games and a report to Facebook.


                              What should I do if I see objectionable material on the forums?
                              It is important that members recognize the real-time nature of this forum: the moderators cannot always monitor the contents of posted messages, and as such depend upon you to inform them when participants or their messages are violating our policy as stated here. You must also recognize that they cannot respond immediately to such notices and that some time may pass before any warranted action is taken.

                              What happens if I break the rules?
                              At best, your post will be edited by one of the moderators and you will be issued a warning. If the offense is more serious your post will be deleted. Posting "why was my post edited/deleted?" etc. will only make matters worse, so please don't. If a moderator has not sent you a message stating why, please send the Sr Moderator a message asking for a reason.

                              Should you have already been issued warnings and continue to break the rules, you will be issued an infraction - your posting privileges will be disabled for three days, but you will still be able to view the forums as a guest.
