  • Comprehensive Guide to all things HoDA

Hello everyone, so after a few months of hanging out on these forums, I thought it might be helpful we could condense all the general knowledge into a single guide to get new players started and for older players to have somewhere to go for reference. Please know I'm not passing this off as my own knowledge, this is the the general wisdom of the forums compiled in one place. If you see any misinformation or anything that needs to be added, please let me know.

Before I get into the guide, here are a few helpful links:

Unit List Challenge Node Drop Rates Level Charts

Xzenu has also created a couple of really good guides on very specific topics:

The heroes to keep and the heroes to consume
Ah, so THAT's how it works!

Thanks go to Xzeno for these awesome guides.

Now, onto the guide. I've broken it up into sections, hopefully its easier to read.

    • Units / Factions
    • Stats
    • Combining / Consuming
    • Leveling / XP Banking
    • Initiative
    • Abilities
    • Runes
    • Notable Units
    • Team Setups
    • Events and Promotional Packs
    • Achievements (Coming Soon!)
    • PvE Guide (Coming maybe)

    Units/ Factions
There are two basic types of units regular units and large creatures (LC). You can have 4 regular units, and 1 LC per squad. Characters are divided into different rarities: Common (bronze base), Uncommon (Silver base), Rare (gold base), Epic (Red Base) Legendary (Green Base).

Normal characters and Large Creatures can hit: Single target, Row, Column, or Everyone (AOE). Single target attacks one character. Row can attack a row of characters either front or back, and if it hits the LC will do double damage. Column is the same except for hitting a front row character and the unit behind it. AOEs hit everyone, but does not deal double damage to LC's. Characters that hit more than one unit (AOE, Row, Column), hit with the base amount of power to all of their targets. Damage is not divided among those who are hit.

There are 4 factions, red, blue, black and white. Red does extra damage to blue, blue does extra damage to black, black does extra damage to white, and white does extra damage to red. The extra faction damage is 25% on top of all other bonuses.

Faction bonus can be achieved by having 4 characters with the same color in the normal spots. LC's have no faction. Faction bonus boosts everyone's attack power from the beginning of the round to the end of the round. Legendary units contribute 5% to faction bonus, Epics 4%, Rares 3%, Uncommon 2%, Common 1%. You can get up to 20% faction bonus.

There are only 4 stats in Heroes of Dragon Age.

    • Power: This determines how much damage a character does. There is a fairly substantial variance in damage done based on power. The Variance for Single hitters and Row/Column is +/-25%. Meaning a character with 1000 power may hit for between 750 and 1250. The variance for AOE is slightly lower at +/-20%. An AOE character with 1000 power may do anywhere from 800-1200 with a normal hit.
    • Health: This is how much damage a character can take before it is killed in battle.
    • 2x Chance (Crit Rate): The chance that a character deals double damage. Crits are always 2x the units base power, i.e. if we take character with 1000 power he will always crit for exactly 2000, no more and no less.
    • Speed: Speed determines in what order a character will move. There are 3 visible speed classes (Quick, Normal, Slow)

    Combining / Consuming

Combining is the method by which units can be tiered up. If you have two identical units, they can be combined to make a higher tier. Max tier is 4. Combining units transfers 100% of both units xp to the new higher tier unit. If you combine identical tiers (t1 + t1, t2+t2, etc...) you will get an extra 10% xp. Combining only grants one extra tier at a time. Combining two tier 2 units results in a tier 3 unit not a tier 4.

Consuming is similar to combining. Instead of combing identical units, you can consume weaker units to boost another units crit rate and xp. Consuming transfers 100% of the unit to be consumed into the unit consuming along with a small amount of xp based on rarity. It also contributes to a characters 2x damage chance. The higher the rarity of a unit being consumed the more they contribute to 2x damage chance (crit rate).

    Leveling / XP Banking
Player level in HoDA as of now is fairly useless. A low level player can have a very strong team and a high level player can have a pretty mediocre team. The best way to gauge an opponents strength is the level of their units.

The most direct way to increase a unit's level is to just fight battles, every battle grants a predefined amount of xp. As a rule of thumb challenge nodes at the end of maps 2-10 grant less than regular nodes. The most efficient way to level multiple characters through fighting is to simply pick the highest level node you have mastered and can beat consistently (5 times out of 6 or better) and just hit that node as often as possible. However, some challenges drop rare units at a fairly high rate. Rare units give 150xp each when consumed which adds up if you're able to get a few and feed them all to one specific unit, it's also a great way to raise critical chance which is useful in pvp. While the numbers may not be as high per character, it can be more effective for leveling a single character. (Not to mention the chance for higher level drops)

    XP Banking
XP Banking is the process of using cheep lower rarity characters as storage units for xp and then consuming them into better, higher rarity characters. There are several useful guides on XP Banking including: "xp banking guide"

Initiative can be a mystery at first. There are three speed classes (Quick, Normal, Slow). Quick units move first in random order. Then Normal units, again in random order, then slow units in random order once again.

So in the screen shot above A1, D1, and D2 are quick units. These three units will move first in random order. Although the defending team has 2 chances to move first and the attacking team only has one, its quite possible for the attacking team to move first. After these three move and assuming no one is killed, the regular speed units will move. A2 and D3 are normal speed. Once again, they'll move in random order (regardless of who won initiative in the previous phase). Finally, the slow units will move, A3, A4, A5, D4, and D5 are all slow units. Again, they'll move randomly. Things get more complicated as some units are killed before their turn, slowed or stunned. However the basics hold true, quicks move first, then normals, then slows.

Nothing other than speed runes affect initiative. Player level, unit level, attack/defense, none are considered when determining initiative.

Most units have one or more special abilities. As a rule of thumb, if a character has a special ability that effects enemy units, then the ability will only affect those that are hit. E.G.: single hitters will only have have chance to apply their status effect to the unit hit, AOE hitters will have a chance to apply their effect to all enemy units. (There are of course some exceptions)

Slow - Slow decreases the speed rating of a character by 1 speed class. Quick becomes Normal, Normal becomes Slow, and Slow units who are effected by slow are placed in a hidden category signifying extra slow. The effect lasts for one turn. If a quick unit is slowed after it has moved for the round, it will begin the next round with a speed of Normal, once it has moved in the normal round, it will go back to moving in the quick round, assuming it wasn't slowed again. Slow effect stacks. A quick unit can be slowed multiple times to make it move during the slow phase.

Stun - Stun causes the unit affected to skip its turn. The effect lasts for one round. If a character is stunned after it has moved for the round, it will skip its turn in the subsequent round. While units can be stunned multiple times in the same round, since stun does NOT stack this has no practical effect. Stun is not guaranteed, rather it has either a small, moderate or high chance to land. Small is estimated to be about 25% chance, Moderate 50% chance, and High is about 75% chance.

Heal - Units with heal gain a percentage of the damage they do after they've attacked. The actual percentage varies by character. Heal can effect either a single unit or the entire party, which is denoted in the unit description. Unlike other skills heal is independent of enemies attacked, meaning some AOE units have heal, but only heal themselves (First Enchanter Orsino) others heal everyone (Wynne), still others attack only a single target, column or row and heal only themselves. The behavior of the heal effect is in the unit's description.

Power Gain - Units with this skill gain power after they attack. Similar to heal, some increase the power of allies. The character description will tell you how the skill behaves for each individual unit. The amount gained is a percentage of the units base power. ***

Power Drain - The inverse of gain, units with power drain, decrease the power of enemy units that they hit. The magnitude of the drain is based on the attackers power rating. ***

*** Ju Chen has written an amazing explanation of how power gain and power drain work. Please visit his thread: Numbers behind the Numbers.

Taunt - Increases the chance a character will be attacked. Straight forward.

Elusiveness - Opposite of Taunt, decreases the chance a character will be attacked.

Flank - Gives a high chance that the character will attack the back row. Community testing/anecdotal evidence suggests units with flank attack the back row roughly 90% of the time. Unsure how skills like elusiveness and taunt effect Flank. So far it seems to have minimal effect suggesting Flanks magnitude is much higher than the previous two.

Stun Resist - Has a chance to resist stun. See: ((gregs explanation in fantas post))

Power Aura - This is a passive skill. Units with Power Aura boost the power of all their allies as long as they are alive. This boost stacks with other bonuses and is based on the base power of each individual ally, not the power of the unit with the aura. (Needs more testing/verification)

Health (?) Aura - Similar to Power aura, except the boost is to heath not power. (Unsure of mechanics regarding what happens if the aura character dies, do all units lose the bonus health and if their remaining health is less than the bonus amount does the character die automatically?)

Runes are items that can be used to give your squad temporary boosts. Most runes are self explanatory and stack on top of other effects. A few notes:

    • Runes have the same rarity levels as units. The higher the rarity the stronger the rune. Not all runes come in all rarities.
    • Runes last 7 days from the time they are acquired. If you don't use them in that period, they are gone forever.
    • Rune timers do not display days and hours, only days (or hours if less than one day) If a rune says it has 1 day left, it could mean anything from 1 day , 23 hours and 59 minutes to 24 hours and 1 minute. Once there is less than 24 hours left on a rune's timer it will display in hours and if less than an hour it will display in minutes.
    • The timer on the runes starts as soon as the rune is activated. The timer counts down continuously from that point.
    • Runes stack: Two speed runes make Slow characters move in the quick phase.
    • Runes of Knowledge: These stack differently. If you use 1 rune that gives +100% xp gained you will get double xp from battles, if you use two at a time, the second rune will double the value produced by the first. Rather than getting +200% xp (triple experience) you will get +300% xp (quadruple experience) Example: Map Node 10-4 grants 633 xp. With a single Epic Rune of Knowledge you will gain 1266. If using two Epic Runes of Knowledge you will gain 2532.
    • Runes of targeting simply improve the chances to hit the specified target, they do not guarantee it.

    Notable Units
Higher rarity units are generally more useful and powerful than lower rarity units, there are however, a few lower rarity units worth noting.

    • Ferelden Ash Warrior - Normal Speed, Single Target, high chance to stun. Useful in stun farming / Dalish Challenge.

    • Ferelden Knight - Normal Speed, Single Target, high chance to stun. Useful in stun farming / Dalish Challenge.
    • Elf Bard - Quick Speed, Single Target, Slows Enemy. Useful for stun farming normal speed units / Ferelden Challenge.
    • Dalish Hunter - Similar to Elf Bard, the only thing is the Dalish Hunter cant be farmed from challenges

    • Desire Demon - Slow Speed, AOE, Moderate Chance to stun. Desire Demon (DD) is the AOE unit with higher than a small chance to stun. This is offset by low stats, she can be used in certain Undead Challenge setups and has been effective in mastering map nodes up to map 8 & 10 (not so useful in map 9)
    • Stroud - Slow Speed, AOE, Small Chance to stun. Until you can get Fenris Stroud is a solid option for stunning, his stats make him more durable than DD.
    • Dalish Arcane Mage - Very good early game tank.
    • Tevinter Battlemage - Slow speed, AOE, Slows & Small chance to Stun. One of the few AOE units with multiple Special Abilities.
    • Grey Warden Mage - Slow speed, AOE, Slows & Drains enemies. Combined with TBM can be very effective at debuffing a party.
    • Ferelden Bahn - Normal Speed, Single Target, high chance to stun. Useful in stun farming / Dalish Challenge.
    • Wintersend Dragon - Quick, AOE, Large Creature, one of only two Large Creatures in the quick phase.
    • Tevinter Arcane Mage / Tevinter Laetan Mage - Same unit, different skin (TLM was an android exclusive). Normal, AOE, Slow, basically a mini fiona.

Epic - At this point most units start becoming viable depending on how theyre worked into the squad. I'm just going to mention the strongest, most commonly used units and those with very specific utilities.

    • Grey Warden Alistair - Normal Speed, Attacks Row, Fantastic Stats (Formerly a Legendary but demoted to make room for King Alistair)
    • Grey Warden Bethany - Normal Speed, AOE, Solid Stats.
    • Fenris - Normal Speed, AOE, Small chance to stun. Mediocre stats, but an overall upgrade to Stroud and the highest rarity Non LC - AOE Stunner
    • Corypheus - Slow, AOE, Drain. Solid power means his drain is fairly powerful. Hes the poor mans Merrill.
    • Duncan - Quick, Single Target, Flank. He can now one-shot low tier or low level back row casters. (Also he looks bad ass)
    • Athenril - Quick, Row, Flank. Not quite as deadly as Duncan, but hits both back row units. Epic version of Varic Tethras
    • Arishok - The most effective unit for allowing other to stun farm you. High health and red faction means low level stunners such as FK, FAW, FB can wail away on him for ages.
    • Arcane Horror - Huge amount of HP, but his attack power is pretty sorry. Good for protecting the back row from single hitters.
    • Fluffy - Normal, AOE, Slow, basically a mini Fiona.
    • Varterral (LC) - Quick, AOE, Stun Resist, LC. Second Quick Large Creature, works very well with quick teams.
    • Pride Demon (LC) - 2nd Highest HP in the game (8185 at t4/max level) Has Taunt so he can draw attacks away from allies. Very useful in pve.
    • The Old One (LC) - Normal Speed, Row, Slow Enemies. The Old One (TOO) is most useful in pvp events where most LC's do not gain a boost. His special ability and speed makes him valuable where most LC's are cannon fodder.

Legendary - Again, almost all legendary units are better than their epic or rare counterparts and are a clear upgrade over most epics. The following list are what I believe to be the best/most useful.

    • Grand Enchanter Fiona - Normal Speed, AOE, Slows Enemies. My personal favorite unit, she has solid HP and Power, although her power is the lowest of the Blue Faction AOE's, it's still not bad. While she doesn't have the hitting power of Merrill or Wynne, she sets up the rest of her team to have uninterrupted attacks on the enemy.
    • Merrill - Normal Speed, AOE, Drains Power. Merrill is a monster, she drains at 40% of her power, which is up to 1135 at T4. The draw back for merrill is that she has relatively low health and at lower tiers and levels her drain isn't quite as effective. At higher tiers she can one shot most units with a crit.
    • Sandal - Almost identical to Merrill except for slight differences in stats and he is white faction. This comes into play later when talking about high end pvp setups.
    • Wynne - Normal Speed, AOE, Heals Allies. Wynne is right between Fiona and Merrill in terms of power and health. Her special ability is considered somewhat less useful, but she is able to wipe out entire parties if she crits just like Merrill.
    • Architect - Normal Speed, Single Attack, Heals Self. Architect has great HP and Power, his heal is massive meaning he can survive a lot of punishment and keep healing himself back up.
    • Grey Warden Oghren - Slow, Single Target, Gain Power. He has huge attack power, and very solid HP. Its unlikely he will survive till the bottom of round two w/out some help from a healer, or someone to slow the enemy down as well, but if he does, he's 1-shotting everyone he hits.
    • Schmooples - Super tank! Not much else to say, huge hp pool, but hits for peanuts. Good for protecting the back row from single hitters.
    • Varric Tethras - Quick, Row, Flank. He's the new mage hunter. Since he attacks back rows, tanks do nothing to stop him. Hes got solid power, crits can wipe out back row casters.
    • Isabella - Quick, Column, Elusive, Stun Resist. The Elusive and Stun resist skills are pretty useless, but the fact that she attacks columns means she can get to those mages hiding behind tanks. Good power at high tiers.
    • Morrigan - Slow, Row, Small Stun, Power Aura. She matches well with quick units to give them extra killing power early in the round.
    • Guard Captain Aveline - Slow, Row, Power Gain. Good HP and power gain means shes tough in the 2nd round. Matches with other good white units.
    • Red Lyrium Meredith - Normal, AOE, Power Gain. Good for black faction teams, can form black faction aoe w/merrill & cory
    • Loghain Mac Tir - Normal, Single Target, Power Drain. Hes got huge hp and power, and drains from one target. Wont die in round one, and eliminates whoever he hits either by flat out killing them or leaving them with very little attack power.
    • Chasind General - Slow, Column, Power Gain, Power Aura. Good unit, power aura stacks with morrigan giving up to 20% boost, red faction means they can take advantage of faction bonus as well for even more bonus power.
    • Keeper Marethari - Normal, AOE, Power Gain Allies. She boosts allies power by about 50% after she attacks, meaning everyone after her becomes quite powerful. Good hp for an AOE unit.
    • Ancient Darkspawn - Slow, Single, Chance to Drain All enemies, 200 damage resist. Ancient Darkspawn is unique in a couple of ways. Firstly, hes the only unit that can drain units he does not hit, and hes the only drainer with only a chance to drain.
    • Shah Wyrd - Normal, Column, Power Gain, 200 damage resist.
    • High Dragon (LC) - Slow, AOE Highest HP of the legendary LC's, good attack power.
    • Queen of the Blackmarsh (LC) - Slow, AOE. Inverse of HD, higher attack power, lower hp
    • Hybris (LC) - Normal, Column, Small stun.

    Team Setups
There are a few common team setups that are quite effective. I'll describe them here and also try and give some advice as to how to deal with them in the games current balance.

Blue AOE - This team consists of multiple (as many as 4) Normal Speed Blue AOE Units. Fiona, Merrill, Wynne, Keeper Marethari, & Grey Warden Bethany can all be considered core units. Some AOE teams will include a tank such as Arcane Horror, or a Slow Unit such as Vengeance Anders or Velanna. The strength of this team is that they can deal massive damage before slow units even get a chance to move, since they hit everyone, there's no way to protect units from their damage. Power Drain and Slow are the strongest skills in the game, and combinations of Merrill and Fiona can cripple most teams, especially those with multiple slow characters. An effective way to counter Blue AOE teams is to use faction damage of quick red units to try and kill such units as Fiona and Merrill before they get a chance to move. Which brings us to....

Red/White Assassin - This team is the counter for Blue AOE teams. Characters normally seen in this team are: Varric, Isabela, Duncan, Athenril, Morrigan, Chasind General and Varterral. The basic idea of this team is to use Varric who targets the back row, Isabella who targets a column, and Varterral to do enough damage to kill as many blue AOE units as possible. The use of Morrigan and/or Chasind General is to stack bonus damage from power aura on top of faction bonus. Alternately, Sister Nightingale and Duncan can form a white faction with Varric/Isabella/Chasind General. The best way to counter this team is to use units with high hp that can withstand the quick attacks and counter with strong attacks of their own.

White Power Up - Similar to Red Assassin groups, but instead of using quick rogues, use strong units with high hp. Units like Grey Warden Oghren, Guard Captain Aveline, Loghain Mac Tir, King Alistair, Chasind General all work well together. Although they're slow they've got enough hp to live through plenty of damage. The best way to counter them would be to use normal speed units to attack and debuff them before they get a chance to attack.

Black Tank - Black Faction has some very good tanks and power drain to support them. Ancient Dark Spawn, Shah Wyrd, Architect, Merrill, Corypheus, Grey Warden Oghren are all good choices to put together to make a strong team that is very hard to kill. The key to these teams is having Merrill who moves in the normal round to drain power and give the rest of the cast an even better shot at survival. This team is hard to consistently beat. Blue AOE is strong against black faction but has to win initiative over the enemy Merrill.
There are of course, limitless possibilities as far as squad configurations, and many ways to deal with each configuration other than the ways I've listed.

    Events and Promotional Packs
There are two basic kinds of events in HoDA: PvE Events and PvP Challenges.

PvE (Player versus Environment) Events are held on a designated challenge node for a set period of time. During this time odds for character drops are increased, or new characters are added to the potential drop list. These are pretty straight forward.

PvP (Player versus Player) Challenges are events where players can enter a tournament to win different prizes. These events often have different rules than regular pvp, giving a boost to certain types of units. PvP events have a prize ladder which are guaranteed prizes granted for reaching set banner amounts. There are also leader board prizes granted for placing at certain spots on the leader board when the event is over. (You must FINISH in these spots, not simply achieve them)

Promotional Packs are special packs containing either new or limited sets of characters. The prices for these packs vary. Before you buy a pack, it is recommended that you search the forums for official contents or check with the community for advice as to what is in them. Promo Packs also tend to give a guaranteed legendary unit based on different rules. Each pack is different and you should be aware of what type of guarantee if any exists.

Amazing post, Sarah. It shall indeed be stickied, but I've moved to the new players section since a great deal of the info here is more relevant to them.

                Awesome post, +1 for sticky!
I think crit is always max damage x2 (no variation).

Sarah, this is amazing! I read through your entire guide and found it very easy to understand and a great refresher, even for an (almost) Level 100 player.

I would love to see a comprehensive section on QC, since that node baffles even the best teams if not set up correctly. It may take a bit to sort through all of the wisdom that has been shared on it, but it is a great challenge to shoot for after you master all nodes. Key is an analysis of each toon that people consider using. Where their best placement is. What level they need to be at. If there are ways to use lesser characters (lower level or lower rarity) to assist other battle partners for success. Sample battle configurations that work well. Also, which runes are best and why.

And comprehensive guides to Nodes 7.1, 8.4 and 8.5. Naturally, we are all here to supplement your excellent primer.

Also, maybe we can compile a list of Top 100 Tips. Things like "The key to Circle Tower is to take out the DD before she has a chance to move. Same with the Sten in QC and at least one of the two TBMs in Tevinter."

+ 100 for this guide. It is really helpful. I read through everything and learnt a lot from it.

                          Thanks Sarah!!!!

It is a well done post. The mods should look into replacing some of the other stickies that aren't being maintained as the op covers a lot of the same material but better.

I still feel the necessity to claim that the community's definition of 'aoe' needs to be modified before it sets any further. AoE is well-established acronym in the nerd-works of video games. It's standard meaning encompasses row, column, AND all. I feel that defining it to exclude anything but all hitters can be confusing to new players, and as it happens, this is the sub forum for new players.

                              Forum Rules and Disciplinary Actions

These rules set boundaries to ensure that the Heroes of Dragon Age game and forums continue to be a friendly place where members can learn and share information on a variety of topics. As Heroes of Dragon Age and its forums are available to players 13 and older, refrain from excessive cursing/swearing. For more information, please see this link.

By accessing the EA Capital Games applications, users agree to accept that game administrators and moderators may remove any content submitted by a player as defined below. Users agree to EA Terms of Service as well. Misrepresenting oneself to engage in illegal activity will be immediately reported to EA for legal action.

Even though these are forums to allow free expression of ideas, there are other (real) people involved and one should respect their opinions and questions as ORIGINALLY POSTED IN THE TOPIC HEADINGS. Moderators are here to uphold and enforce these rules and the Terms of Service. Freedom to express your ideas, concerns, suggestions, and feedback, does not allow you the freedom of saying anything you want when you agree to the Terms of Service.

Unless otherwise stated, courses of action will be as follows:

                              1. First Offense - Warning
                              2. Second Offense - 3 day ban
                              3. Third Offense - 1 week ban
                              4. Fourth Offense - Permanent ban

If you have received a Permanent ban, this will extend to all future accounts created. If you are discovered to create a new account, it will also be banned.

What is not permitted in the discussion forum:

Advertising or soliciting other members to buy, sell, or peruse any products or services including other applications or accounts, along with chain letters and junk mail.

Topics/posts that contain this will be both edited and closed or deleted, and an immediate 3-day ban will be issued without warning.

Racism, bigotry, misogyny, hate speech, discrimination against any race, sexual preference, gender, or religion will not be tolerated.

All topics/posts will be deleted. Death threats, even joking, will be deleted and an immediate 3-day ban will be issued without warning, with further review from the Lead Moderator.

Flaming includes material that is knowingly defamatory, illegal, abusive, threatening or harassing.

As with anything, you, as a member, should use good common sense when posting. In other words, you agree not to be a jerk. Posts containing personal attacks on another user will be edited/deleted at the moderators’ will. All posts/threads will be deleted.

Flaming or bashing of EA/CG, the devs, or the mods is not allowed. All such posts/threads will be deleted and an immediate 3-day ban will be issued without warning.

                              Right to Privacy
You will not violate a person's privacy by publishing, against another member's will, any information that is private and personal. Nor will you post private communication between EA Capital Games Support, other forum members, moderators, community managers, administrators, EA Capital Games employees, or partners of EA Capital Games on these forums or anywhere else.

Unless expressly endorsed by EA Capital Games, publicizing any correspondence of a private nature such as support tickets, email, Private Messages (PM) or chat logs thereof by any medium is NOT permitted.

Discussing or posting of another player's spending habits will be deleted.

Obvious spam (repetitive nonsense posts) will result in the poster permanently banned and all posts deleted.

Material that is sexually or otherwise obscene is not permitted on these forums.

Topics/posts containing such will be deleted on sight. Forum poster will be permanently banned from the forums.

Providing or asking for information regarding the illegal downloading of "warez", "gamez" or any other software protected by copyright.

                              Future Events/Promotions
Any posts or threads revealing future events or promotions that were not disclosed by the Capital Games team will be deleted.

Posting the same question in more than one forum is not allowed. Should this occur, then only the thread in the most relevant forum will be left open; all others will be locked/closed and subsequently deleted.

The use of any exploits or known bugs or editing of files in order to gain an unfair advantage while playing, will result in a permanent game and forum ban.

Accusing another player of cheating will result in your post/thread being deleted and a message sent to you, stating to refrain from further accusations. If continued accusations occur, a forum ban will result. If you believe a player to be cheating, send a PM to the Community Manager with as much detail as possible.

Please privately contact the Community Manager in order to submit an inquiry regarding this behavior.

                              Off-Topic Posting
Taking over a thread by posting excessively off-topic is not allowed. Off-Topic posts and any responses will be moved to their own, new thread if possible, or else deleted.

                              Political Posting
Because political beliefs, like religion, are a personal and sensitive topic, avoid posting about politics on the forums.

                              Customer Support Inquiries
All inquiries regarding Customer Support should be routed through the online web portal for support. The Community Manager and Moderators are unable to assist with inquiries regarding support tickets. Posting your ticket number and requesting assistance on the forums will result in the post being deleted. Sending a Private Message to the Community Manager or Moderators about CSR Inquiries is not to be tolerated, and will be ignored.

Additionally, all interactions with Customer Support are considered confidential, and all issues are handled on a case-by-case basis. As such, posts containing transcripts or results of your interactions with Customer Support will be edited or deleted. Keep in mind that your friend's case may not be exactly like your case, so the results of your request may differ from the results of your friend. Customer Support will not discuss the details of any player's case with any other player, but will provide support to you under our established, confidential policies. Asking why your request was resolved differently than another player will result in your post being deleted.

Violation of these terms is grounds for removal from EA Capital Games games.

What should I do if I see objectionable material on the forums?
It is important that members recognize the real-time nature of this forum: the moderators cannot always monitor the contents of posted messages, and as such depend upon you to inform them when participants or their messages are violating our policy as stated here. You must also recognize that they cannot respond immediately to such notices and that some time may pass before any warranted action is taken.

To contact a moderator, please use the Flag Post function on the post represented by a flag:

What happens if I break the rules?
At best, your post will be edited by one of the moderators and you will be issued a warning. If the offense is more serious your post will be deleted. Posting "why was my post edited/deleted?" etc. will only make matters worse, so please don't. If a moderator has not sent you a message stating why, please send the Lead Moderator a message asking for a reason.

Should you have already been issued warnings and continue to break the rules, you will be issued an infraction - your posting privileges will be disabled for three days, but you will still be able to view the forums as a guest.

For persistent and deliberate rule-breakers your account will be "Banned". That means you are no longer welcome on these forums and/or games and your account will no longer function in them. If you re-register, your new account will be banned as well.

                              Posting Suggestions
In the attempt to create a compromise where everyone is happy, the following suggestions are also recommended:

                              1. Be civil and courteous. This forum is visited by people from all over the world, of different ages, genders, religions, and backgrounds, and are each entitled to their own opinion. Keep in mind that in most cases, posts are not intended to offend. If you find yourself taking offense at a post, take a step back and contact the person directly, or appeal to a moderator for arbitration. Don't make the situation worse by posting in anger and lashing out at the original poster. Also, see Flaming, Right to Privacy, and Hatred.

                              2. Make sure that your message topics fit the topic description of the forum in which you are posting. This is for your own benefit - for example, a question regarding a bug or problem should be posted in the Feedback section under the appropriate heading.

                              3. Use the search function before posting, particularly if the question is problem oriented. Most technical questions have been answered before, and solutions are freely available. Additionally, before posting a bug, check the Known Issues thread to quickly see if the staff is already aware, and to find the discussion thread about that issue.

                              4. Make sure that you have followed #3 before posting

                              5. Read the sticky threads at the top of each forum - they are there for a reason, and generally contain information relevant to the forum and/or game.

                              6. Don't quote the entire message that you're responding to, only the pertinent passage. This makes it easier to read for other users.

                              7. If you find it easier to express yourself en français, auf Deutsch, en español, in Nederlands, in Italiano, or any other language, post in the International Discussion forum. Hopefully someone who speaks the same language as you will be able to assist you. All posts in other sections (non-International) of the forums must be in English, so please make use of Google Translate if you need assistance with translation. Posting in English will allow the widest range of people to assist you.

In addition to the Forum Rules, you are bound to the general EA Terms of Service both on these forums and in the game. Links to the TOS are as follows:

                              EA TOS English
                              EA TOS French
                              EA TOS German
                              EA TOS Russian
                              EA TOS Spanish

By registering and posting on these forums, you agree to be bound to the rules and disciplinary actions set forth above.
