  • I return with more questions!

Hello again! I just now noticed that this forum has PM's, sorry for not responding to those. I've joined a guild That's not got minimum requirements as of yet, since I'm fairly new. I'll be sure to get back to you when I'm more experienced!

    My team excists of:

    Dragon Flemeth
Scout Harding - Queen of the Eastern Seas
    Scout Harding - Josephine

All but Dragon flemeth are made Mythic.

    I have a couple questions.
    1) how/where from do I get Hunterhorn Shrike or Dragon Morrigan to solidify my roster?
    2) which heroes do I aim for next?
    3) which items to equip on what character?
    4) which legendaries can drop from the soldier packs?
    5) which missions do I do now?

I'm currently trying to land within the top 1500 in the current PvP event, and I gained the Garrett and Marion 3* Hawkes from the Hawke event, as well as the 3* Cassandra (I forgot her full title) from the boss pve event that ended the other day. I'm also level 152.

I also found out that for some key quests that say for example: "2 hours or 50 tries" that if I my game freezes and I restart it, the timer has continued, but the tries have reset to 50 (!!!)

I'll make a list of my heroes when I'm back from holiday and have a computer again, so you can further help me with my roster

Thanks a lot for the initial help. It's brought me this far and I'm starting to see the patterns!

    Hi, welcome back

If you send me your whole roster, I could help you better.
You can edit your roster at HoDA Codex Web page and send me the link.
Scout Harding and Josie are pretty good heroes, so you should tier and fort them well.

    1) Nugnacious suggested that it is a BP drop now, but you will need to get most of BP heroes to get it.
I checked out HoDA Codex and it's updated, you can see all BP drops there.
DM is easier to get, she is a Metas gaunlet drop, besides, it will be available for top 50 players as a reward on the leaderboard.

    2) I replied a past post of yours and here are most of the answers to your questions

Focus on the heroes that I suggested you, the current meta team are Dace brothers.

    3) About gear, it depends on your strategy and team build, gear depends on your combination of toons, there isn't a specific good gear for every hero.

    4) You can see all hero drops here: http://www.hodacodex.com/en/
But soldier pack drops are pretty bad now.

    5) As I suggested in your last post, Metas gaunlet

I recommend you to play Get a Hawke nexus and get all the Hawke dupes that you can, they are pretty good.
3* Cassandra is a great hero too.
If you have an orange key, don't use it, you need a pretty good meta squad to pass the raid, keep it in your inventory till you get better toons.

    Good luck!

Hunterhorn Shrike is actually in the Bloodstone Packs now, along with a bunch of other really good heroes. That kind of got lost in the uproar over the last round of updates.

happy to help. Also, joelvn - if you are looking for some general direction on gearing your heroes, here's some tips:

          1. Pay attention to gear that lets you stack bonuses by equipping one on each member of your party, ie gear that says "gives x to allies" or something like that. One example of this would be the templar breastplate, which gives your whole party +40% resists if each normal-sized member of your squad is wearing one and is a gear of choice for inquisition squads. The humble red iron maul is another good example; alone it may not look like much, but in multiples it packs a punch and is good for rogue squads. Stacking gear with benefits to allies can frequently outpower gear that only provides those same benefits to self. 5 phoenix feathers provides +25% crit chance to each member of the squad vs. 5 ardent blossoms only providing 11% to each member of the squad.

          2. Stealth! Only some heroes can use it but it's currently a big deal. Use your best judgement but if you can stealth a hero with gear, it's generally a good idea to do so (debatable with daces, though). Scout Harding has scout quiver specifically and it's better for her but all dwarves can now have stealth with legion dagger.

          3. Resists! If you have a good gear that also provides additional resists, try to get as many of those as possible. Skin that stalks, ruby ring, new dragon helm, elgar'nan enaste, stuff like that. New asaarash gear is good for your lcs, depending.

          4. +Power vs. +Damage: these mean different things. I hate doing math so I try not to compare too closely but a gear with +10% power would provide less punch than a gear with +10% damage. The former is only based off your hero's base power while the latter is based off their total damage output after auras, power gain, etc. But for non-attacking heroes like maryden who provide their total power to allies you'd want +power gear > +damage gear (to self) to give more benefit to allies.

Nugnacious gave you a great advice about gear, it's sometimes difficult to know what is the best gear for a team combination, there are lots of possibilities depending on your team build or strategy.
It will help you to see what teams are using and gear PG players.

Thanks once again for the great advice, the both of you! Time to farm bloodstone packs, and get to node 12 and 14 in the metas gauntlet (if I am strong enough to get there)

I am wondering about the gear item Armada captains knife. It has a bonus when it's equipped by Isabela. Does the bonus work on Queen of the Eastern seas? Or just on the isabela named isabela? And if so, will equipping multiple armada captains knifes on queen be good?

              • #8
It works on all four of them, Isabela, Captain Isabela, Queen of the Eastern Seas and Naishe.

The bonus to Isabela works on all versions of Isabela, of which there are....four, I think? So usually as a rule, unless the gear is bugged or is labeled for a specific version (ie bianca specifically singles out artificer varric rather than varric in general) it works for all versions of that character.

Since the buffs on the knife don't stack there would be no extra benefit to having multiples (and you can only equip one per character). The +12% damage against warriors gives her a pretty good edge against certain characters, so it's up to you if you want her to have that. I have an armada knife on my Queenie. I haven't used her as much recently though because she lost a lot of her oomph after the bugfix (she was gaining too much power) so I haven't revisited her gear, but personally if I start fooling with her again or she gets a buff I might consider switching the armada knife with the dragon helm, since getting her to survive to second round is key (she was a second round nuke. More of a second round molotov cocktail at the moment).

Basically that's the kind of consideration you'd put into deciding how to gear a hero: what do they do best and what gear best supports that?

That's too bad, I have 3 Armada captains knives. So in Josies case I want het to gain more power, since that makes her invincible?

In Josie's case it's more her resist gains + her power drain that make her get into invincibility mode on occasion (a little less so after the bug fix). More power = more power drain, so that does help her, but you also want to boost her natural resists. I use el'garnan enaste (power + resists), rl idol (stealth), templar bp (resists), skin(resists, damage), and missives (josie-specific, resists) on mine.

Like Grey Warden said, you can also fight around the proving grounds a bit and click on opposing heroes to see their gear to get a good idea of what other people use effectively.

For the best gear set ups you might be best looking at the top players rather than those around you - in Proving Grounds touch your banner tally in the top right, and you'll find the leaderboard. You can select fight from here without actually committing to fighting - have a spy then back out.

So I read! I got too tempted and tried my luck with the 260 gem pack. Nothing, and out of gems, oops..

However, this 2-day event has a dragon as reward for hitting the top 50; an impossible feat for a beginning player one would say... However, I'm currently ranked #3 ! So with a bit of luck I will end up at around 5500 points and within the top 50, and then all I have to hope for is that the dragon in question is good !

Customer Support will not discuss the details of any player's case with any other player, but will provide support to you under our established, confidential policies. Asking why your request was resolved differently than another player will result in your post being deleted.

Violation of these terms is grounds for removal from EA Capital Games games.

What should I do if I see objectionable material on the forums?
It is important that members recognize the real-time nature of this forum: the moderators cannot always monitor the contents of posted messages, and as such depend upon you to inform them when participants or their messages are violating our policy as stated here. What happens if I break the rules?
At best, your post will be edited by one of the moderators and you will be issued a warning. If the offense is more serious your post will be deleted. Posting "why was my post edited/deleted?" etc. will only make matters worse, so please don't. If a moderator has not sent you a message stating why, please send the Lead Moderator a message asking for a reason.

Should you have already been issued warnings and continue to break the rules, you will be issued an infraction - your posting privileges will be disabled for three days, but you will still be able to view the forums as a guest.

For persistent and deliberate rule-breakers your account will be "Banned". That means you are no longer welcome on these forums and/or games and your account will no longer function in them. If you re-register, your new account will be banned as well.

                              Posting Suggestions
In the attempt to create a compromise where everyone is happy, the following suggestions are also recommended:

                              1. Be civil and courteous. This forum is visited by people from all over the world, of different ages, genders, religions, and backgrounds, and are each entitled to their own opinion. Keep in mind that in most cases, posts are not intended to offend. If you find yourself taking offense at a post, take a step back and contact the person directly, or appeal to a moderator for arbitration. Don't make the situation worse by posting in anger and lashing out at the original poster. Also, see Flaming, Right to Privacy, and Hatred.

                              2. Make sure that your message topics fit the topic description of the forum in which you are posting. This is for your own benefit - for example, a question regarding a bug or problem should be posted in the Feedback section under the appropriate heading.

                              3. Use the search function before posting, particularly if the question is problem oriented. Most technical questions have been answered before, and solutions are freely available. Additionally, before posting a bug, check the Known Issues thread to quickly see if the staff is already aware, and to find the discussion thread about that issue.

                              4. Make sure that you have followed #3 before posting

                              5. Read the sticky threads at the top of each forum - they are there for a reason, and generally contain information relevant to the forum and/or game.

                              6. Don't quote the entire message that you're responding to, only the pertinent passage. This makes it easier to read for other users.

                              7. If you find it easier to express yourself en français, auf Deutsch, en español, in Nederlands, in Italiano, or any other language, post in the International Discussion forum. Hopefully someone who speaks the same language as you will be able to assist you. All posts in other sections (non-International) of the forums must be in English, so please make use of Google Translate if you need assistance with translation. Posting in English will allow the widest range of people to assist you.

In addition to the Forum Rules, you are bound to the general EA Terms of Service both on these forums and in the game. Links to the TOS are as follows:
