  • Questions on Fortification

I've been playing for a while, and I have a few questions about fortification.

First, is it best to wait on fortifying until I've tiered up my fort food to level 4 before I do anything? It feels like it takes forever to tier up any characters, and if I spend characters to tier up fort food, it means I'm not tiering up my main characters that I actually use. Should I just have them go without until I can fort them with tier 4 legendaries?

Second, is there an index of legendary characters that are ok to use as fort food, or that should't be used because they have a use that I might not see? It's not as much of an issue now that we can unfortify, but I'd still prefer to not waste gems to unfort someone when I don't have to. Is it worth it to unfortify some of the characters I already have slotted in order to tier them up?

Third, is there a difference between using 1,2 and 3 star legendaries for fortification? Does a 3 star give a significantly great bonus than a 1 star, or are all legendaries the same?

Last thing, what's the best way to get characters for consuming so I can tier up fort food quickly? I usually do whatever the special mission of the week is, but I'm not sure if that's the most efficient.

Thanks! Any help would be appreciated.

    1. It's up to to the person in question. I usually get my fortifications to tier four before fortifying, but some may use at tier one and they can add tiers by adding the sane hero on top (for example if you put a legendary white wisp at tier one and you put a legendary white wisp at tier one on top of it you'll have a fortification of a legendary white wisp at tier two). But it only works with the sane hero (duplicates in other words).

    2. I know of no such index, but it's safer to use wisps.

    3. No difference, Legendary is Legendary.

    4. The LC wisp nexus (uses yellow keys) has the most efficient consumption material for any faction colour. Also if you want to make your consumption material more potent get them to 4th tier.

I usually fort with t1 legs. Tiering up fort food takes too long, and I only do it for the best heroes. With a medium or medium-good toon, by the time I finish tiering the fort food, it's already outclassed.

        2) Generally, the ones you can easily get multiples of from the dailies & nexus events with better drop rates are the ones you want to use. Generally, nexus with Ludicrous modes that can easily be beaten are the ones you want to focus on. Saturday Wisps, Enemies of Tevinter, Winter Wardenland, Tainted Blood, Banished Plane etc. Large Wisps nexus that uses a yellow key will be your go-to for LC fort food. Popular black/white fort food is Warden commander duncan because he drops a lot in Winter Wardenland.
Probably the only one to consider removing right now is Sera, as she's powered as heck with 2-3x commons.

Pro tip (I love this phrase)
Historically, every end of the year around Christmas, we get reduced gem costs for energy refills. If you're around 200 energy, go ahead and pop open a LC wisp key and complete 50 runs of that. It'll tier up your characters like nobody's business.

If not, I suggest you do the ludicrous weekly event (right now Tainted Blood). This gets you some consume food, and at the same time helps build your fort food for the future.
Please always use 2x Mythic Experience runes when running nexus. The faster you level up, the more energy you get per refill, and that'll help come end of the year (or whenever CG bestows us with gem reductions on refills)

I found that if you wait to fort up a hero with a tier 4 legend, you will find this happening:
            1) You go longer with an unforted hero that you really want forted.
            2) Your inventory space grows very large because you have all these heroes that you are trying to get to tier 4, so you can throw them in a fort slot.

So I fort my legends with tier 1 legends. It's the best compromise to me.

Now, the exception is the mythic forts. I have been tiering them up to tier 4 before using, they are pretty rare for me still.

1- you can wait.. but it's not ideal when your inventory begins to pile up with fort food all waiting to reach T4. I do the same as ChickenWings and usually toss in T1 legs into fort slots immediately.. mind you my inventory i aim to leave 150 spaces free for farming..but usually it gets more crowded then that... If you have over 300 inventory space free.. then you can take your time.. but if it starts to pile up.. need to manage it. Ideally we all want to make T4 leg or mythics.. but in practice it's best to get 2 of the same.. and make a combination.. T1 + T3... or T2 + T2...

2- Nope. If you want a hint.. usually the legendaries you find in PVP events that are there often... those are the food. NOT ALL.. but most of them.. if you see them more than once... the legs from daily nexus too... 1 stars usually.. and normally it's older toons not newer.. but there are exceptions...

3- Nope. But if you use a 3 star to fort.. 3 stars need more consume points if you do it manually... but if you have 2 copies of a 3 star or more.. then you can use 1 copy to make it T3.. and then combine the second copy to easily attain T4... though I wouldn't recommend using 2 or 3 star heroes as fort food.. not unless you get proper advice on which heroes you are considering to fort away...

4- If you mean you wish to get copies of the same hero.. the drop rates aren't good enough to me to have it be reliable that way.. instead I just assume I will Tier 4 all fort food. But I do find daily nexus has it's uses.. so if you want an order of priority.. Saturday Wisps is #1... Yellow Key Giant Wisps #2... and then daily #3 is daily nexus (to me).. and then weekly nexus #4 (and depends which weekly you are talking)... so a bit of clarification on that... #3 can be weekly nexus..but depends which one ..some are better than daily... and for daily nexus.. i like White and Blue daily nexus.. White in my opinion is the best of the daily.. you can get a lot of epic CAss from there... doing 25 energy Hard mode.

Maybe Daily nexus isn't talked about much.. or maybe some players feel it's not great.. but i find it is a great source for wisps of that faction/color... So doing Red faction daily gives quite a bit of red wisps.. great for consume points!

Of course you can always target a hero you want with PVP events.. but that's another ball game. If you are confident you can reach certain ranks to attain the prize for that rank.. then it's an option.

PSA: Account Sharing and Identity Theft

Recently we have been made aware of a situation where players have been sharing accounts between members of their guild. While not technically a violation of our Terms of Service to do so, it can put your account, and your personal life, at risk by doing so. You should never share your account credentials with anyone, especially if you have bound your account to a personal and primary email or Facebook account.

Once a person has access to your account credentials to log into HoDA, this also means they have access to log into that email or Facebook account as well. A person could very easily impersonate you in your real life by having this information, sending emails as you or interacting on Facebook as you. Additionally, whatever information you have available through those accounts would then be made available to this person. If you also use these accounts to access any other systems, by sharing these credentials, you have now given that person access to those systems as well.

This can be a cause of Identity Theft. Given how much information we store online, particularly through email and Facebook, it is not difficult for a dishonest person to take your account login credentials and gain access to a great deal of your personal information, and take over your life. This may lead them to having access to your banking information, credit card information, work and medical history, etc.

What actions can you take to prevent this?

NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR LOGIN CREDENTIALS. Be sure your account credentials remain secure. Update your passwords from time to time, and don't use the same password everywhere you use the account.

For more information on how to keep your accounts secure, check out the following articles:

What are the HoDA policies regarding account credentials?
                  • Heroes of Dragon Age Staff will never ask for your login credentials, nor do they have access to your login credentials.
                  • Heroes of Dragon Age is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or otherwise shared passwords.
                  • All activity taken on an account is considered an authorized use of that account. We do not differentiate between users of an account provided the account has been accessed through a login process.
                  • Customer Support will attempt to secure and recover accounts as best as possible, but ultimately the responsibility of account security falls to the account owner.

Posting "why was my post edited/deleted?" etc. will only make matters worse, so please don't. If a moderator has not sent you a message stating why, please send the Sr Moderator a message asking for a reason.

Should you have already been issued warnings and continue to break the rules, you will be issued an infraction - your posting privileges will be disabled for three days, but you will still be able to view the forums as a guest.

For persistent and deliberate rule-breakers your account will be "Banned". That means you are no longer welcome on these forums and/or games and your account will no longer function in them. If you re-register, your new account will be banned as well.

                  Posting Suggestions
In the attempt to create a compromise where everyone is happy, the following suggestions are also recommended:

                  1. Be civil and courteous. This forum is visited by people from all over the world, of different ages, genders, religions, and backgrounds, and are each entitled to their own opinion.
Also, see Flaming, Right to Privacy, and Hatred.

                  2. Make sure that your message topics fit the topic description of the forum in which you are posting. This is for your own benefit - for example, a question regarding a bug or problem should be posted in the Feedback section.

                  3. Use the search function before posting, particularly if the question is problem oriented. Most technical questions have been answered before, and solutions are freely available.

                  4. Make sure that you have followed #3 before posting

                  5. Read the sticky threads at the top of each forum - they are there for a reason, and generally contain information relevant to the forum.

                  6. Don't quote the entire message that you're responding to, only the pertinent passage. This makes it easier to read for other users.

                  7. If you find it easier to express yourself en français, auf Deutsch, en español, in Nederlands, in Italiano, or any other language, post in the International Discussion forum. Hopefully someone who speaks the same language as you will be able to assist you. All posts in other sections (non-International) of the forums must be in English, so please make use of Google Translate if you need assistance with translation. Posting in English will allow the widest range of people to assist you.
